Bits of uni work

These are a few bits of my uni submission back in June for my course at LCC. You can see more on my website.

The first was a exploration of six typefaces, analysing their anatomy. The next was a book of my research from my sketchbooks, designed to be almost like an annual report I suppose. Lastly are a few invitations I designed for a fictional event.

Long overdue update

I don't suppose anyone still visits this little blog since I haven't posted since February, but just in case.. Hello! I'm still alive.

The reason I have been a bit off-grid since the beginning of the year is that I started a postgrad course in graphic design in London in January, which has been so much fun but a total whirlwind. I'll be posting some work up soon, but in the meantime here are some bits and bats of illustration I've been doing for various clients, most of which is on my website if you want to see more.

Let's be friends again, yeah?

South African birds

A little personal project of birds from South Africa. I saw most of these whilst I was there. From top: Masked Weaver and Bishop, Flamingo, Sunbird, Common Waxbill and Firefinch, Knysna Loerie, Hadeda Ibis.

Old textbooks

The loveliest design I've seen in an inch square. These tiny icons appear on the reverse of each textbook in the Science Library and Nature Library series by LIFE, and date from 1961-67. To see the almost-complete collection (I think we're missing one or two), visit my Flickr set.

Hermanus House

I'm now back in the UK, and it's taking some getting used to. Fog, frost and darkness by 4pm were all things I managed to forget about completely in the warmth of South Africa. What a shock.

In my last week in SA I travelled along the Garden Route and saw some incredible places. This was the first place I stayed in the beautiful seaside resort of Hermanus. Norfolk Beach House was a treat, packed full of retro furniture and appliances, I will definitely be back one day!
